BOATING

Weather for boating and water sports on Lake Como

Before going on the water, check several factors together. Air temperature alone says very little about the safety of an outing.

Mean wind and gusts

For light craft and water sports, the difference between mean wind and gust speed can be decisive. Gusts much stronger than the mean indicate more irregular conditions.

Thunderstorms

When thunderstorms are possible, remember that gust fronts can arrive before the rain. Calm skies at your exact position do not guarantee that a nearby cell cannot affect the lake quickly.

Check radar before departure

Looking at radar shortly before leaving helps identify rapidly approaching precipitation. During longer outings, check the evolution again when possible.

Safety note

Como Lake Weather is an information service. For warnings, emergencies and safety decisions always consult Civil Protection, Regione Lombardia and the competent authorities.
