CLIMATE

Lake Como climate through the year

Each season on the Lario has distinct characteristics. Understanding the annual cycle helps plan travel, events and outdoor activities.

Winter: December to February

The lakeshore is often milder than the surrounding mountains, but inversions, night frost and damp days remain possible. Elevation quickly becomes decisive and snow may fall on the mountains while Como receives rain.

Spring: March to May

Spring is highly transitional. Sunshine and temperatures increase, but cool outbreaks and wet periods remain possible. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms become more common towards late spring.

Summer: June to August

Summer can be hot and humid, especially in urban areas and the first basin. During unstable spells, thunderstorms can develop rapidly, often in the afternoon or evening.

Autumn: September to November

September can retain summer characteristics, while October and November more often bring cool, damp and persistently wet periods. Relatively mild lake water can influence the shoreline microclimate.
